Harleysville’s first brewery invites you to enjoy a beer with us and help us “Draw Up” a revolution for our town and our fellow beer lovers. Blueprints require a team to bring what is on paper to life. Someone to hammer a nail, lay a line, and make it all happen. It’s not just us but also our neighbors and friends that will bring what we love about beer to life – community!!! We want to give people great beer, gluten free and gluten full, and to those that have lost it, bring back the joy of beer. God’s greatest creation!
We brew gluten full and gluten free beer! Our gluten “full” beers run the gamut from hazy New Englands to Asher’s Chocolate Stouts, and boundary pushing concotions. Our gluten free beers push similar envelopes and have had people drive from all over just to taste them!
So why gluten free? 15 years ago, our brew master, Cory McDonald nearly lost his father to celiac disease. Due to lack of awareness and diagnoses, his father lost 50 pounds in 5 months! Celiac disease (CD), also known as gluten intolerance, is a genetic disorder that affects at least 1 in 133 Americans. The “gluten” in wheat, barley, rye, and a much lower amount in oats* (WBRO), contain particular amino acid sequences that are harmful to persons with celiac disease leading to severe gastric district distress and over time a boatload of other maladies. On top of all this, you can’t drink beer anymore!
Not long after, Cory read “Brewing Up a Revolution”, ran out and bought his home brewing equipment and lit the flame on this brewing odyssey. Along the way he figured out some darn good gluten free beer and, of course, gluten full beer recipes and now we get our #1 drinking buddies back.
